I really don't want you to take this the wrong way, but every artist takes their art serious, even if its goofy, stupid, or even for practice. You should always take something seriously, and try to make it the best you possibly can, instead of half-ass it just because 'it's not serious'.
Also, as an actual artist, I've come to the point where I almost get offended when you use that term to refer to 'vectoring', because there isn't much creativity going into the piece. Not as much as if you drew the entire thing by hand, which I urge you to do. It's a lot more fun when you create everything from scratch.
